30 Days Of Knitting

Day 7: Your least favorite?

Hmm….I don’t think any survive, it I truly dislike something I’m working on, I either rip it out and try again, or just plain rip it out! No ‘bodies’, no witnesses :)

Cross Stitch!

I’m so excited, I picked up some aida cloth, a hoop and a new pack of needles at work tonight, so I can start making some awesome cross stitch designs! I love browsing the fantastic works of art here on tumblr and elsewhere online, and I have been wanting to try my hand at it for a while. I don’t know what I’ll be making yet, but I’m excited to start :)

Day 6: What is your favorite piece that you’ve knit?

You know, I don’t know if I have a clear favorite! I love knitting scarves, anything with a cable, and the vests that I have been working on are pretty fun. I just don’t have an absolute favorite (that I can think of, anyway!).

A Vest For Natalie

I had big plans for Christmas last year. I wanted to make a sweater vest for each of my three kids, plus one for my nephew. All of them were going to be coordinating but not matching, using the same three shades of gray yarn. I was overly ambitious to say the least, considering the other handmade gifts I was already making, and only one vest got finished.

My beautiful daughter Natalie, wearing her vest :) I’m still thinking of adding some kind of ‘girly’ embellishment, like a flower near one of the shoulders.

I recently found the pieces of my oldest sons vest, the back is finished and the front has a good 8 inches done already. So it is my new ambition to finish this vest (his will have stripes) soon, so he can wear it now that the weather has turned cooler! There will still be one to go after that, but it will be the smallest one and should hopefully (hopefully) get done quickly.

Simple Beauty

I am so in love with this idea!

I Love Yarn Bombing :)

This would be totally awesome to see in person!

Day 5: How long did it take from the time your learned how to knit, to finish your first project?

Hmm, a few days to a week. No more than that, it was just a simple garter stitch scarf with thick wool. Not much to it :)

Even more adorableness! :)

Some Assembly Required

This is the cutest thing ever! My boys love Legos, I might have to make one of these for an Xmas gift :)

Day 4: How did you learn how to knit?

I taught myself using a DVD that came with a yarn kit I bought at Target (of all places). The ‘back’ button became my new best friend as I watched them cast on over and over again :) I had already been crocheting for several years, and had been coveting lots of handmade knitwear so I decided to give it a go.
